Clinical Education Program: Occupational Therapy

NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center both have active Occupational Therapy Clinical Education Programs for both Level I and Level II students. We offer a fast-paced, dynamic educational experience with exposure to various clinical settings, including hand therapy, pediatrics, burn rehabilitation, vestibular rehabilitation, dysphagia, and behavioral health, in addition to general orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation.

We are committed to providing quality learning experiences and guidance for students to help them develop the skills necessary to become vital and responsible members of the profession. The clinical affiliation period is a critical link between the academic and professional careers. Students are encouraged to develop clinical skills and professional behaviors in response to the expectations of their schools and our site.

Students are scheduled to participate throughout the year based upon the fieldwork schedules of the schools. This usually is done via communication between the Academic Student Coordinator and the Clinical Site Student Coordinator. Level II students are also required to undergo an interview before acceptance.
